    Privacy Policy

    • Last updated October 17, 2026

    This policy explains what information Sajha Notes (sajhanotes.com, “we”, “us”) collects, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We’ve kept it in plain language.

    In short: you can read all our notes without giving us any personal information. We only collect what you choose to send us (comments, messages, and update emails if you sign up) and the usual information websites need to run, show ads and stay secure. We never sell your personal information.

    1. Who we are

    Sajha Notes is a free educational website for students in Nepal. If you have any question about your information, email us at [email protected] or use our contact page.

    2. What we collect

    When you read our notes

    You don’t need an account. Like most websites, our web host and security tools record basic technical information, such as your IP address, browser type, the pages you visit and the time, to keep the website working and safe. Google Analytics and Google AdSense also collect information through cookies (see sections 3 and 4).

    When you comment

    • Your name, email address and comment, the date, your IP address and your browser type. The IP address and browser type help us stop spam.
    • Your name and comment are shown publicly. Your email address is never shown.
    • To show a profile picture, a scrambled version of your email address (a “hash”) is sent to Gravatar, a service run by Automattic. If you have a Gravatar account, your picture appears next to your comment. Gravatar’s privacy policy.
    • If you tick “Save my name and email”, your name and email are saved in cookies on your device, so you don’t have to type them again.

    When you contact us or contribute notes

    • Your name, email address, the topic you choose, any note link you add, and your message.
    • The page you came from, so we know which grade and subject your message is about.
    • To stop spam, we use a scrambled form of your IP address for up to one hour to limit how many messages one visitor can send. It isn’t saved with your message.

    When you sign up for update emails

    Only if you tick “Email me when new notes are added for my grade”, we save your name, email address, the grade and subject of the page you were on, and the date you agreed.

    Team accounts

    If you have an account to write or edit notes, we store your username, email address and password (encrypted), and our security tools record login attempts to protect your account.

    3. How we use your information

    • to reply to your messages and questions;
    • to show and moderate comments, and to block spam;
    • to fix mistakes and improve our notes, using your feedback;
    • to send update emails, only if you asked for them;
    • to understand which pages are useful (through Google Analytics);
    • to show ads, which keep Sajha Notes free (through Google AdSense);
    • to keep the website secure, and to meet our legal obligations.

    We never sell or rent your personal information.

    4. Cookies

    Cookies are small files a website saves in your browser. We use:

    • Essential cookies: to keep team members logged in, and to remember your comment details if you ask us to.
    • Analytics cookies: Google Analytics counts visits and shows us how pages are used, in a combined form that doesn’t name you.
    • Advertising cookies: Google AdSense uses cookies to show ads (see section 5).

    Your light or dark mode choice is saved in your browser’s local storage. It stays on your device and is never sent to us.

    You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you do, some features, such as remembered comment details, may not work.

    5. Advertising (Google AdSense)

    • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this website or other websites.
    • Google’s use of advertising cookies lets Google and its partners show you ads based on your visits to this website and/or other websites on the internet.
    • You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google’s Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some other vendors’ cookies for personalised advertising at www.aboutads.info/choices.

    To learn more, read how Google uses information from sites that use its services.

    6. Who we share information with

    We share information only with services that help us run Sajha Notes, and only as much as they need:

    • our web hosting provider, which stores the website and its data;
    • Google, for Analytics and AdSense;
    • Gravatar, for comment profile pictures;
    • our email service provider, to send update emails to people who signed up;
    • secure backup storage, so the website can be restored if something goes wrong.

    We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect the safety of our users or the website. Some of these services store data on servers outside Nepal.

    7. Update emails

    We only send update emails to people who ticked the box to ask for them. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can also ask us to stop by emailing [email protected]. When you unsubscribe, we keep a note of your email address only so that we don’t email you again.

    8. How long we keep information

    • Comments: for as long as they are published on the website.
    • Messages: for as long as we need them to reply and follow up. We then delete them.
    • Update emails: until you unsubscribe.
    • Technical and security logs, and backups: for a limited time, after which they are replaced or deleted.

    9. Students under 18

    Sajha Notes is made for school students, and you can read everything without giving us any personal information. If you are under 16, please ask a parent or guardian before you comment, write to us or sign up for update emails. Parents and guardians can contact us at any time to ask us to remove their child’s information, and we will.

    10. Your choices and rights

    You can ask us to:

    • tell you what personal information we hold about you;
    • correct it if it’s wrong;
    • delete your comments, messages or other information;
    • stop sending you update emails.

    Email [email protected] from the email address you used with us, so we can confirm it’s you. We’ll reply within 30 days.

    11. Security

    Sajha Notes uses a secure (HTTPS) connection, keeps its software up to date and limits who can access personal information. No website can be completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

    12. Changes to this policy

    We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, the “Last updated” date at the top of this page changes.
